• Setting up of a Trade and Investment Information Centre (TIIC) for M P Trade and Investment Facilitation Corporation Ltd. (TRIFAC), Bhopal

NCTI has signed an MoU with M P Trade and Investment Facilitation Corporation Ltd.  (TRIFAC), Bhopal on 23rd February, 2007 for setting up of a Trade and Investment Information Centre (TIIC) at Bhopal which would service manufacturers, exporters, importers, traders, entrepreneurs and government agencies involved in promoting international trade and investment in the State of Madhya Pradesh.

Under this project, NCTI will provide consultancy services for designing, development and physical set up of TIIC.  NCTI will also develop software, website, recommend technical infrastructure, and impart training to TRIFAC officials on different aspects of trade information.  The set up will have vital business and economic information on manufacturers/exporters of M.P., Product/market profiles, overseas importers, product catalogues/profiles of exporters,  calendar of events, trade statistics, industrial and trade policy, Exim policy, RBI regulations, custom duties etc.  The information will be available both in print and electronic medium.  The visitors to the Centre will be assisted by the Information Officer and can retrieve the information through the terminals provided and will also have the access to the Library having various databases and periodicals/publications on International Trade.

• Alliance with Visvesvaraya Industrial Trade Centre (VITC), Bangalore

  An MoU has been signed between NCTI and VITC, Bangalore on 24th Feb, 2007 for a period of two years.   As per the terms of MoU, NCTI will provide Trade Leads on electronic media to VITC on a weekly basis for the benefit of trade and industry in Karnataka. NCTI and VITC would also jointly organize seminar/workshops for international trading community as part of their Capacity Building Programme.

  Further, NCTI would also provide global trade analysis services on leading export sectors of Karnataka identified by VITC and provide value added marketing inputs to enhance the exports from the State of Karnataka.

• Setting up of Coir Trade Information Centre under UNDP Programme

NCTI has recently carried out a project for setting up of a Coir Trade Information Centre (CTIC) at Coir Board, Kochi.  The main objective was to set up and manage an Information Centre for collection and dissemination of vital and useful trade information through a single window for the benefit of Indian Exporters of Coir products, overseas buyers and others in the coir trade and industry.

 

The major activities carried out involved Global Trade Analysis for coir and coir products,  Study on Market opportunities for  coir and coir products in  India, Field Study, Developing  useful databases on coir exporters, importers and other trade related information for CTIC and dissemination among trade and industry, Procurement and installation of IT infrastructure, Physically setting up of Coir Trade Information Centre, manage Information Centre activities and train Coir Board staff to effectively operate the Centre, Designing and developing interactive website for Coir Board, content development, maintenance and updation of Coir Board website www.coir-india.com.

• Setting up of Trade Points at Nepal

NCTI was also awarded the contract by UNCTAD to set up and operationalise the Trade Points in Nepal.  NCTI has prepared the Work Plan and the Business Plan for setting up and operationalising the Trade Points.  NCTI also provided support for developing the training module/faculty support, preparing and developing the contents for their website.

• Presentations, Training and Contact Programmes with the Trade & Industry

NCTI has carried out several symposiums on activities of the Trade Point Programme and on Electronic Data Interchange in important centres including Mumbai, Madras, Calcutta, Pune, Bangalore and Delhi. 

A five-day International Technical Training Programme on  “Internet and Other Sources of Trade Information”  was conducted in June, 1998 in co-operation with ITC/UNCTAD/WTO, Geneva.

Based on the statistical trade analysis and related studies carried out by NCTI several product specific awareness seminars have been conducted by NCTI in co-operation with CII & EEPC for the benefit of trading community of India.
